Is a Wall-Mounted Heater for Your Patio Worth the Money?

February 17, 2021 by Gateway Leave a Comment

Out of all the options available for heating your patio, wall-mounted heaters have plenty of advantages: they are affordable, easy to install and to use.

If you are a nature lover like us, then you can agree that being outside and enjoying some fresh air is one of the best pleasures in life, which is why so many people thrive during Spring or Summer. With chilly weather and shorter days, we are forced to spend more and more time indoors.

If you want you, your family, and your kids to spend more time outside but you are worried about the uncomfortable cold of the winter days, you can invest in a patio heater. It will allow you to be outside without any discomfort, enjoy a hot drink as well as perform some of your favorite activities.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Out of all the options available for heating your patio, wall-mounted heaters have plenty of advantages: they are affordable, easy to install and to use.

Alternatives to electric wall heaters are gas stoves, wood-burning stoves, or other heaters that require you to provide fuel each time. These fuel burners also release certain particles in the air that pollute, smell and could damage your patio furniture or wood structure.

Disadvantages of wall-mounted heaters are mostly related to their operating costs. Although modern heaters are energy-efficient, the cost of electricity could lead to expensive bills if you use the heater frequently. Depending on the size of the area you want to heat, you might need a more powerful heater that needs plenty of energy to do its job.

Other Heating Options

With these pros and cons in mind, wall-mounted heaters are still one of the best options to heat your patio, as long as the frequency of use doesn’t lead to bills you can’t afford. If you want to heat your patio daily and for long times, other options can be explored.

  • Convection Heaters – Convection heaters warm up the air inside them, then release it in the surrounding area. They keep on drawing air from around them and process it constantly. This heating method is not ideal if your patio is an open space, but for an enclosed area with screens or windows, it could be perfect.
  • Infrared Heaters – Infrared heaters heat the object they are oriented towards, so this heating method might be ideal for patios. Place the heater towards the sitting area where you usually spend your time outside of the house, and they will warm you up efficiently and without heat losses.

Home Remodeling Services

Wall-mounted heaters are elegant, don’t occupy space, don’t release particles or smell into the air, and can be the best solution if you want to spend time outside of the house. Compared to other outdoor heating methods, they are much easier to install, maintain, and operate, making them very convenient and flexible compared to heaters that use fuel like gas or wood.
